Dr. Anirban Chakraborti, Professor at the School of Computational and Integrative Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, is a leading physicist in econophysics and sociophysics. He earned his Ph.D. from the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics under Prof. Bikas K. Chakrabarti and held positions at École Centrale Paris, Banaras Hindu University, and BML Munjal University. His pioneering work on kinetic exchange models, including the Chakraborti-Chakrabarti and Yard-sale models, has significantly advanced the study of wealth and income distributions. Author of several influential books and articles, he was awarded the INSA Young Scientist Medal and elected Fellow of TWAS in 2023.
Dr. Deepak Dhar, Padma Bhushan awardee (2023) and the first Indian to receive the prestigious Boltzmann Medal (2022), is a renowned theoretical physicist celebrated for his pioneering work in statistical physics and stochastic processes. He introduced the concept of spectral dimension in fractals and co-developed the famous Dhar–Ramaswamy model of self-organized criticality. A Ph.D. graduate from Caltech under Jon Mathews, Dr. Dhar served at TIFR, IISER Pune, and currently is INSA Distinguished Professor at ICTS-TIFR, Bengaluru. His numerous honors include the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, TWAS Prize, and fellowships of India’s leading science academies.
